Woman attacked by teens outside of Scarborough Mall
|
| Criminal infractions are not limited to a certain type of person. Anyone can find themselves in a challenging situation where their actions are scrutinized by the law. Individuals between the ages of twelve and seventeen years are governed by the Youth Criminal Justice Act which was implemented in 2003. This umbrella division focuses on criminal as well as correctional law and aids in the prosecution, reintegration and rehabilitative measures for the accused. If your son or daughter has been charged with a crime, let a Scarborough criminal lawyer defend him or her, as individuals between fourteen and seventeen can be tried as adults, all depending on the surrounding factors. The majority of crimes committed within the twelve to seventeen year age range are non-violent; however there are always exceptions such as what happened in Scarborough earlier this March.
Mid-March of this year, a twenty six year old woman was robbed and attacked by two teenage girls in the early hours of the evening. The victim was leaving the Scarborough Town Centre at approximately 7:30pm when she was approached by two sixteen year old girls who proceeded to rob her of her cell phone. Unfortunately, the woman gave chase in an effort to retrieve her stolen property. This led to her being stabbed repeatedly in the upper part of her body. The two teens were arrested and charged with attempted murder, robbery, aggravated assault and theft. |
