Crime Stoppers in Dufferin County
Crime Stoppers is a non-profit, non-governmental, socially motivated organization concerned with curbing, solving, and stopping crime in the Simcoe, Dufferin and Muskoka regions. The organization gives citizens in the aforementioned regions an opportunity to contribute to their communities by providing means for individuals to provide anonymous tips and even rewarding information leading to an arrest with amounts up to $2000. Both police and the public have found the organization helpful in the fight against crime. But in recent times the Crime Stoppers organization in Dufferin County has not been as active as it used to be.
In order to revive the Dufferin County Crime Stoppers agency, parties involved are seeking to rebuild the Dufferin County Crime Stoppers committee. In an effort to do so, the organization held an information night at the Wall Street branch of the Orangeville Public Library on Wednesday, September 18th from 7 to 9pm. There is also a local committee assisting in raising funds which will be paid to tipsters who submit information leading to an arrest.
