Markham Home Invasion Revealed as Murder-for-Hire Plot
What initially appeared to be a random home invasion in Markham was later revealed to be a murder-for-hire conspiracy. Huei Hann Pan and his wife Bich Ha Pan were attacked by a group of armed men inside their home. Mr. Pan was shot twice and survived; his wife was shot three times and died. Their daughter Jennifer Pan was found unharmed. Police subsequently charged Jennifer Pan with first degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder, alleging that she had arranged the attack. The case shocked residents of Markham and drew widespread attention. Conspiracy to commit murder and first degree murder are among the most serious charges under the Criminal Code. Anyone facing such allegations in York Region requires experienced legal representation immediately.
Markham Firefighter Fatally Stabbed at Restaurant
Dominic Parker, a firefighter of four years and a father of two, was stabbed in the head without provocation while at a restaurant in Markham. He never regained consciousness and died approximately three days after the attack at the age of forty-five. A Toronto resident was charged with first degree murder and two related offences in connection with the death. The case drew significant attention in York Region. First degree murder requires proof that the killing was planned and deliberate.
